School Kitchen Garden

Suzy wrote and submitted a successful application on behalf of Darlington Public School for a City of Sydney Matching Grant for $5,000. She then coordinated the implementation of the grant, ordering supplies, keeping financial records, liaising with the P&C, school administration and community, and running a series of working bees to build the new school edible garden.

The garden launched in 2012 with Lord Mayor Clover Moore attending the official opening.

Once the garden was established, Suzy coordinated and delivered a series of workshops with students in planting seeds, raising edible plants, and tasting food (with the Week of Tastes Program). These programs were delivered in consultation with classroom teachers to ensure integration into the curriculum.
